The late and former Nyandarua North member of parliament Josiah Mwangi Kariuki alias JM Kariuki was killed by assassins on the 2nd of March 1975 and his mutilated body dumped in Ngong forest.
After the arrival of his body at the City mortuary days later, there were reports of the then government of Jomo Kenyatta’s operatives trying to sneak out JM Kariuki’s mutilated body to an undisclosed be the location.
This is backed by revelations made by the then 1975 Kisumu town member of parliament Grace Onyango who was among leaders who made their way to the city mortuary after getting information that JM Kariuki’s body was lying there.
Onyango says that there was a plot to use a spy by the government to sneak out JM Kariuki’s body. She further revealed that an officer who had been attached to parliament pretended to be a morgue attendant and even blocked the parliamentarians from viewing the body, citing strict orders from powers above him.
Mark Mwithaga, a former Mp for Nakuru town constituency would later in 2012 reveal that the sent spy was about to release the body to some anonymous wailing women who were at the compound with a Peugeot 504.
The former Mp also claimed that JM Kariuki’s body had a tag on his leg which read ” a body of unclaimed Luo gangster”.
Throughout the time when the late Mp was missing, Jomo Kenyatta’s government made claims that he was away in Zambia for official business. Until today, the case has never been solved and most suspects have already died.
