Deputy President William Ruto’s allies have protested over the recent move by the Jubilee National Management Committee to kick out him from the Deputy Party leader’s post issuing fresh details.
According to Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju, he has informed that the highest organ in the party which is the NMC has resolved to oust Deputy President William Ruto from his current position within the party claiming that he has failed on matters exercising what the party’s constitution dictates.
Tuju added that what they are only waiting for is a go-forward from President Uhuru Kenyatta and who is the Jubilee Party leader.
“The NMC discussed the matter and resolved to remove the DP as per the party constitution. The matter is active, we have the recommendations of NMC and now only waiting for the party leader to convene an NEC meeting to deliberate on the matter,” said Raphael Tuju.
However, the move to kick out the DP has not augured well with his team prompting them to react.
Speaking to the Standard, the legislators allied to the Second in Command belonging to a group popularly known as the Tangatanga has said that it is illegal to remove the DP from his party position explaining that it is against the party’s constitution Articles 33 (2) which states clearly that “The president of the Republic of Kenya shall be the party leader and the Deputy President shall be the deputy party leader.”
Mathira Member of Parliament Hon Rigathi Gachagua and a staunch supporter of the Deputy President has reacted to the move by the Jubilee NMC stating that they don’t mind anything that happens to the DP.
MP Gachagua has said that the alleged ouster s a ploy to distract Kenyans disclosing that they will remain focused on their Hustler Nation agenda and prepare fully for the upcoming general elections.
“Who cares? Jubilee is a shell. We are focused on building the hustler nation and the forthcoming general election. Anything else is a distraction and a sideshow,” Rigathi Gachagua has said.
