Kenyan politics have taken another twist as every county is in the middle of hot leadership battles between county leaders both the elected and those appointed.
The majority of the Governors in almost every county are between a rock and a hard surface.
Some of the governors are being roasted by their own Members of County Assemblies if at all they have failed to deliver good leadership to those that chose them, that is the common Mwananchi.
Of late Meru County is one of the counties that are making headlines every now and then. A few weeks ago, the Meru county governor Hon Kiraitu Murungi made headlines after publicly pointing out that he was not in the capacity of fighting the global pandemic COVID-19.
His statement was recorded during a press briefing. Here is what he said: “Let us not be cheated that we are ready. If we get 100 cases in Meru, they will all die,” Kiraitu said.
Since Kiraitu uttered such sentiments, Meru residents are spending sleepless nights trying to figure out the kind of responsible leaders they need to lead the county come 2022. Kawira Mwangaza who is the Women Representative of Meru since 2017 grabbed a chance to fight the Governor Through her “Okolea Meeting” and through his “Husband” TV station Baite Tv.
Hon. Kawira has stepped in almost every sub-county trying to persuade the residents of the kind of leader they deserve after the 2022 general election.
She has done a lot of projects with the NGAAF funds from the national government and has helped many households with her ‘Okolea Kaana ka Meru’ foundation.
Saturday, 16 May 2020, Meru women Rep Kawira Mwangaza was not lucky as angry residents who are also her opponents took to social media sentiments to attack her for her gubernatorial bid in 2022.
They argued that the women rep can’t lead Merians as the governor because she is incapable of leading her own family.
Terming her as a sugar-mummy spilled everything. “Meru county will never be ruled by a sugar mummy” a Facebook user named Kaaria O Muguna posted on Facebook Fanpage named ‘New Meru Economic and Political Forum’. His sentiments attracted an online fire and this is what followers had to say.
Kawira Mwangaza: Some Of The Post Reaction.

Kajuju Kaju Kaburu Got nothing to do with leadership
We’ve just sampled a few reactions since others have been put in vernacular. NmB conducted an investigation and the reason why the residents are calling the Meru Women Rep a ‘sugar mummy.
It is clear that Kawira grabbed her current husband known as Murega Baichu (the owner of Baite TV the local vernacular Tv) from another woman and later on held a secret wedding at a disclosed venue. Both Kawira and Murega have children from their former relationships.
