Gloria Mwendwa a 22-year-old aspiring politician on Sunday, February 6, launched her bid to replace Hon Mwangaza Kawira as the next Meru County Woman Representative in the August polls.
Speaking at Mulinya Full Gospel in Meru, Gloria Mwendwa revealed that she drew political aspirations from Deputy President William Ruto with who she shares political ideologies.
The youthful politician revealed that though the DP is her political mentor, she is yet to make up her mind on whether she will use Ruto’s UDA party to vie in the elections.
“Though I subscribe to the hustler narrative, I have not yet decided which political party I will use to vie in the elections,” she added.
Gloria revealed that she was motivated to join politics after the death of her mother who died of cancer in 2021. According to her, it is the financial struggles she went through after her mother’s death that prompted her to venture into politics so that she can help the needy.
“I lost my mother in 2021 to cancer, a disease that consumed almost every resource we had at home that I could use for survival. It is my struggles after my mother passed that made me know the importance of helping the less privileged. I want to clinch the seat so that I can help many people through the implementation of laws at the National Assembly,” Gloria said.
The woman rep aspirant said that, if elected she will use her youthful age to implement laws and development programs that will enlighten and uplift the livelihoods of the common wananchi in Meru.
