Police have nabbed a secondary school headteacher who pummelled his daughter to death after he reportedly found her in the company of a man in Migori County.
Abidha Rabet, the headteacher of St Juliane Ugari Mixed Secondary School, is said to have gone berserk after he stormed into a house in the neighborhood and found his 17-year-old daughter cuddling with the man.
The girl passed out and was rushed to Neo Care Centre for first aid but had to be moved to Migori County Referral Hospital after her condition worsened.
Neighbors reported that Rabet descended on the lovebirds with a cooking stick before the man squeezed his way through the door and vanished, leaving behind father and daughter embroiled in a vicious war.
The girl, who was a Form Four student, lost the battle while undergoing treatment at the referral hospital.
Uriri sub-county police boss Peter Njoroge said that the father and some relatives had attempted to cover up the incident by getting rid of the body secretly but were intercepted in Homa Bay on their way to Bondo for burial by police acting on a tip-off.
“We liaised with police manning a roadblock in Homa Bay who flagged down the vehicle and confiscated it on its way to Bond. They intended to bury the body secretly,” he said.
The police boss said the body of the victim has been transferred to St Joseph’s Obo Mission Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem. The headteacher will be arraigned Monday.
