William Kabogo Gitau is among the top-notch politicians in Kenya. Many describe him as one of the richest politicians in Kenya, for his lavish lifestyle. He has risen to fame and become a prosperous political analyst and advisor. He is the first Governor for Kiambu county, a position he held for one term and later on lost to Governor Ferdinand Waititu.
Here is the Biography of William Kabogo
William Kabogo was born on 4th April, 1961 in a village called Komothai in Githunguri. He then joined St. George’s primary school in Ruiru before joining Thika Technical school to study a diploma in electronics in the period between 1975 and 1978. Kabogo later on travelled to India, Punjab University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in commerce and completed in1982.
Career and Politics
After former Governor William Kabogo was done with his undergraduate program, he returned to Kenya and was employed at the Auditor Generals office as an auditor in the early 80’s.
This position saw Kabogo grow his career for he began doing basic accounting before becoming the Chief Executive Officer for an international NGO. He accredited this career excellence to hard work and commitment.
William Kabogo then decided to shift his mindset from employment to business, and this made him relocate to Mombasa for business endeavors. He invested in real estate, clearing and forwarding, and transportation.
William Kabogo had a deep interest in politics and in 2002, he got himself into action by contesting for Juja Parliamentary seat under the KANU ticket.
He won the seat and since then he has been known to engage in various developmental projects that included the installation of electricity, provision of tapped water, generation of creation centers, bursary fund management, and road works construction among other social development projects.
In 2007, Kabogo defended his parliamentary seat which he lost to George Thuo through a disputed election. In the 2010 by-elections, Kabogo won the seat after filing a petition in court against George Thuo. The latter, George Thuo lost and Kabogo regained his seat.
Up to date, William Kabogo has been identified as a unique politician who is highly rated among the members of the 10th Parliament. His fame has risen for being identified as one who established ministerial statements on behalf of his constituents.
In 2013, he won the governorship for Kiambu County under the Jubilee Alliance party ticket hence becoming the first county boss for Kiambu County. Kabogo’s loss to Governor Ferdinand Waititu came following the latter’s win over the Jubilee party ticket.
Little is known of the former Governors private life. He is married to Philomena Kabogo and they are blessed with two kids.

According to relevant sources, the former Kiambu county boss recently declared his networth and stated that it is to the tune of billions of shillings. His recent interview with Anne Kiguta on K24 showcased his extent of wealth. He stated that he is yet to reach the level of a dollar billionaire, but he is worth billions of shillings.
Among his first business initiatives, William Kabogo stated that he began by importing cars in the ’90s. He revealed that among his last shipment, he imported a vessel containing 175 cars, and used to make at least 100,000 shillings per car.
William Kabogo also revealed that he was a supplier for supermarkets and he was among the founders of the Eastleigh Market in Nairobi.
