Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has once again ignited another war with President Uhuru Kenyatta over the ongoing alleged mistreatment of Deputy President William Ruto.
Speaking to Nation, Murkomen told the daily that it was no secret that the President was determined in fighting his Deputy.
While responding to allegations of the DP being sidelined from crucial government meetings this week, Murkomen said it was clear that the DP was unwanted by the government.
He cited recent mass firings of any associates of the DP as the solid reason why the President means no good for his Deputy.
“It is clear that the President is fighting his Deputy and vicious while at it. In effect, President Kenyatta has now made himself the President and the Deputy President. The President has gone on a firing spree of all those seen to be friends with the Deputy. Everybody knows it. Even a small child,” Murkomen told Nation.
The Elgeyo Marakwet Senator further said that it was astonishing for the President to stop acting on his big four agenda and instead opt for fighting his Deputy.
“It is unfortunate that the President has chosen to fight his DP to be his legacy. There is is no justification for the disrespect shown to the DP considering his consistent support for the President and how he fought to have this government,” said Mutkomen.
On 2022 succession politics, Murkomen said that the President ought to allow the DP to work on his mandate now and decide on what to do with succession politics later.
He reminded him of when he promised to support the DP without being prevailed upon to do so and added that he was at liberty to renegade on the promise if he so wished.
“It is baffling because the deal to support the DP was the President’s. He was not coerced. It is up to him, therefore, to decide if he wants to renege on his own promise. But in the meantime, he should respect the choice of the people and let the DP perform his duties and then he can decide what he wants to do about the 2022 presidential Elections,” added Murkomen.
On Tuesday, President Uhuru Kenyatta had a crucial meeting where Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Chief Administrative Secretaries were present but the DP was missing.
His Director of Communication Emmanuel Talaam said told Nation that the DP could have missed because he was not invited.
However, State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena said the meeting was for the National Development Implementation and Communication Cabinet Committee (NDICCC) chaired by CS Matiang’i.
