Deputy President William Ruto’s political fortunes could soon be caged by MPs following a stern warning over his conduct.
The lawmakers who converged at Serena Hotel on Wednesday, March 11, warned Ruto against disrespecting and undermining President Uhuru Kenyatta and engaging in premature campaigns.
In a statement read by Kathiani MP Robert Mbui, the tens of lawmakers from the National Assembly and the Senate threatened to oust the DP should he persist with his rants and perceived misconduct.
“Has ended prestige and honour of the office of the presidency having been elected on a single ticket with President Uhuru Kenyatta. Has portrayed misconduct and disrespect against the presidency and is actions amount to impeachment,” said Mbui.
Kieni MP Kanini Kega said the DP was fit for impeachment and should prepare himself to face the axe he will not go slow on his insatiable appetite to succeed Uhuru.
The lawmaker accused the second in command of undermining the president’s agenda and opposing the move taken by the state to unite the whole country.
His sentiments were echoed by Lugari MP Ayub Savula who threatened to initiate a revolution to overthrow the DP “just like it was done in Sudan”
Other leaders who attended the presser include Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Kakamega Senator Cleo Malala, Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina
