Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal investigations have arrested four suspects including two who were captured in CCTV robbing a man along Lenana Road in Nairobi county.
Detectives from Kilimani Police Station tracked down the suspects and arrested them on Monday, June 29, at their hideouts in Kawagware, Gatina and Pangani estates.
Timothy Jahan Muzami, 27, alias ‘Timo’ was captured on camera hitting the victim with a firearm on the forehead as Humphrey Minyata alias “Daddy” aged 23 years captured on camera pointing the victim with a sharp knife,
Mary Wambui, 23, who was harboring the suspects in Pangani and Ali Musa alias ‘Ally’, 26, was also arrested during the operation and is believed to be an associate of the gang.
In a post on social media by the DCI, the police recovered several items including phone and MacBook laptop believes to have been stolen from their victims.
“Four suspects connected with a robbery incident captured on camera along Lenana Road on June 25, 2020, have this morning been arrested by DCI Detectives based at Kilimani and several items recovered. The four were tracked down to their hideouts in Kawangware, Gatina and Pangani,” said DCI in a Twitter post.
As earlier reported by nairobiminibloggers.com, the DCI launched investigations into the matter after the video showing the man being robbed went viral on social media.
In the CCTV footage which was taken on the morning of Thursday, June 25, a man wearing a white shirt, dark blue suit, and blue face mask was seen being approached abruptly by two people wearing hood jackets.
Surprised by their abrupt approach, the man tried to make a move but then stopped after Muzami showed him a gun as the other went ahead to rummage through his pockets.
The second suspect, Minyata, who was seen carrying a small knife as he searched through the man’s pockets and made away with whatever contents he found there.
