The scribes fraternity is mourning one of their own, NTV video editor who died on Saturday morning, March 7.
The media house reported that Raphael Nzioki was knocked down by a vehicle as he crossed Kenyatta Avenue/Kimathi Street junction a few minutes to 1.30 a.m.
The driver who hit Nzioki is said to have sped off and left his lifeless body on the road.
Police officers are investigating what they suspect was a hit and run.
Nzioki’s body is lying at City mortuary where relatives have identified his body.
Going by his Linkedin account, Nzioka started working at NTV in 2017.
Additionally, he was part of an award-winning documentary ‘The Penalty Feature’ where he featured as a creative producer and video editor.
The video editors’ death comes days after a former veteran journalist and writer for Nation Media Group collapsed and later passed away while attending a meeting at Kabarak University on Wednesday, March 4.
A report by the Daily Nation on Friday, March 6, detailed that Oliver Mulanda Musasia, who switched to teaching after exiting the media industry died aged 39.
He was reported dead upon arrival at Mediheal Hospital in Nakuru Town.
Mulanda was a lecturer at Kabarak University’s journalism department.
“We rushed him to the hospital but he died on the way. We don’t know much, but a postmortem examination will reveal what happened,” Dorcas Kebenei, his colleague stated.
