A Matatu tout was on Tuesday charged in court for unlawfully fondling the breast of a policewoman who had refused to board his matatu.

Samuel Mburu returned a plea of not guilty while appearing before Kibera magistrate Renee Kitagwa.

He was charged with committing an indecent act with an adult contrary to section 11 of the sexual offense act. Mburu is accused of caressing the police officer’s breast on July 3 in Uthiru location within Nairobi County as she waited to board a matatu to town at the Uthiru stage in an incident that occurred at around noon.

Mburu reportedly asked her to board a matatu but she declined and asked him to leave her to select a matatu she wished to board.

Mburu then insulted her and went on to grab her breast contrary to her wish. The officer dashed away into another waiting matatu.

Three days later, she came accompanied by her colleagues, and together they managed to arrest the accused who has since been charged with causing an indecent act with the adult contrary to the sexual offense act.

Mburu told the court that the officer assaulted him. The magistrate granted him a bond of Sh200, 000 or a cash bail of Sh100,000.

The case will be mentioned on July 16.
