Sheffield United left Bramall Lane all smiles after tearing Chelsea to pieces in a Premier League match on Saturday evening.
David McGoldrick struck his first Premier League goal to open the floodgates, pouncing on a rebound after Kepa Arrizabalaga had saved brilliantly from a deflected Oli McBurnie shot in the 18th minute.
Chelsea’s defence was cluttered throughout the match and they got punished for it 15 minutes later when McBurnie found himself unmarked in the six-yard box to power home a simple header from Enda Stevens’ cross.
McGoldrick sealed Chelsea’s fate when he capitalised on a dreadful defensive goof to bag his second late in the second half.
If Leicester City and Manchester United win their games in hand against Bournemouth and Southampton respectively, Champions League-chasing Chelsea, currently third, could find themselves in fifth when next in action against Norwich on Tuesday.
