Billionaires Behind The Success Of Lloyd Masika Limited In Kenya

Featured on the KBC episode of the legends, David Masika came up with the idea of forming Lloyd Masika Limited together with John Llyod.

He has been the chief executive officer of the company for over 42 years. He worked in the ministry of housing under the lands department before forming the company.

The firm is a chartered and registered surveyor as well as a licensed estate agent in Kenya.

David Masika holds a bachelor’s degree in land economics from the University of Nairobi with extensive experience in agricultural valuations, commercial property leasing, and feasibility studies.

John Lloyd joined Tysons Habenga in 1969, after five years of working as a valuer at the department of lands in 1964. He is a registered and licensed valuer, estate agent, and chartered surveyor.

David Masika a graduate of Land Economics from the University of Nairobi, a registered and licensed valuer, and estate agent, later joined in 1974. They both left in 1979 having served as directors at Tysons Habenga to form Lloyd Masika Limited which is still in operation more than 40 years later.

John Lloyd retired in 1995 but he still serves as a consultant for the firm with David Masika as the current chairman who has also served in various managerial capacities for other businesses and the government.

David Masika is the current chairman of Cheshire Disability Services Kenya (CDSK) a charitable organization that supports persons with disabilities.

The firm has divided its services into three departments; valuation and consultancy, management, and agency which handles letting and sales.

Sarit Centre, The Mall-Westlands, and Barclays Plaza are among the many commercial buildings handled by Lloyd Masika Limited.

Masika has served previously as the chairman of the Kenya Power and Lighting Company, managing trustee of the National Social Security Fund, managing director of the Tana and Athi Rivers Development Authority (TARDA), and the chairman of the Kenya Meat Commission.

The company manages a number of properties in Nairobi’s central business district and other parts of the country.

Among the company, properties are Telposta towers, Crossroad mall, Corner house, Stanbank house, Parklands Plaza, Galana plaza, and Barclays plaza. Below are photos showcasing him.
