Former Gor Mahia striker Francis Afriyie stormed off a league match before full time on Sunday, February 16, 2020, to protest the manager’s decision to keep him on the bench.
Afriyie who was on the list of substitutes, had hoped to be introduced later in the game during a premiership tie between his side Township Rollers and Prisons XI at Royal Aria in Tlokweng, but head coach Frank Nuttal made all the substitutions without considering him.
In a video shared by Botswana’s Killerpass, the player is seen storming out of the pitch and outside the stadium in a fit of anger.
Township Rollers ended up edging their opponents 1-0.
This isn’t the first time the Ghanaian is embroiled in controversy. While still at Gor Mahia, he once slapped a physical fitness trainer who had reported him to the head coach for failing to cooperate during a training session.
Unconfirmed reports also indicate that he may have warned head coach Steve Pollack to play him or else he would rough him up.
He penned a deal with the Botswana premiership side in January after abandoning Gor Mahia over pay.
