After completing his primary and secondary education, Sammy pursued a degree in Pharmacy, deviating from his initial dream of becoming a doctor, a path his father had envisioned for him.

He started acting in class five when he took part in a play as a supporting actor. Later, he took part in a bigger role and ended up winning the “Best Actress Award.” He participated in other performances like solo verses, folk songs, and folk dances.
Sammy Mwangi says that he never imagined himself as an actor since he wanted to be a doctor. He says that his dad wanted him to be a doctor and he studied Pharmacy. He also added that his father supported his acting career when he told him about it.
The first time Mwangi did a film was in 2015 courtesy of the Nest Collective. He started off doing art plays at Fanaka Acting Theater.

In 2016, he made his first TV appearance in a show by Zamaradi Productions and later took part in the show “Selina” in 2017. He has since taken part in many shows including Monika, Zora, and Ngazi.
