Michael Olunga Salary at Al Duhail

When Michael Olunga first made the move to the Qatari side Al Duhail, reports emerged that he was earning an annual salary of Ksh83 million following his €6 million (Ksh756,000,000) move.

Engineer Michael Olunga Is a Kenyan international, currently causing havoc in the Japan top-flight league. The tall Striker’s rise in football has happened quickly.

Olunga made his breakthrough while playing for Gor Mahia, During his time at Gor, he fired them to the KPL title while also finishing as the top scorer.

“Today, I think Michael is the highest-paid player in East and Central Africa, you can google his salary. I did that on Sunday and he’s getting Ksh 83 million a year. Well, it is not about the money it is about the passion of what you want to do, to the parents who are here you have a son or daughter who wants to sing, become a fashion designer support them,” said Mulee.

Olunga moved to Djugardens in 2016, Where he made 27 appearances for the Swedish side while scoring 12 times. It was widely reported that before his move to Sweden, he demanded a monthly salary of Ksh 1.5M to remain at Gor Mahia, a demand that the club couldn’t meet.

He spent only one season in Sweden before making a move to Chinese club Ghuizhou Zhicheng, who immediately loaned him to Spanish side Girona. He made 14 appearances scoring 3 times.

After his loan spell in Spain, his mother club sold him to Japan’s Club Kashiwa Reysol. The prolific striker is leading in the scoring charts in Japan with 16 goals.

In Japan, Olunga pockets a monthly salary of $150k (Ksh 15M). Rumors are rife that the striker may complete a high-profile move to Europe in the current transfer window. It’s reported that several clubs have shown interest in him.

With Michael Olunga’s current contract set to expire on Friday 30th June, Brazilian heavyweights SC Corinthians have dangled a carrot of Ksh55,443,000 worth of annual wages to tempt him from Qatari outfit Al Duhail.

There have been increased speculations on the 29-year-old’s future as he has been linked with a number of clubs recently including Turkish giants Galatasaray who reportedly opening talks ahead of a possible move to the Super Lig.

Olunga has been in imperious form in the last two seasons which has seen him clinch back-to-back Qatari Stars League (QSL) Golden Boot gongs including the AFC Champions League Golden Boot in the 2021-2022 season.

According to Eusoutimao, Olunga could be on his way to Brazil should he accept a windfall of Ksh57.4 million monthly wages from Corinthians.

“With his current contract valid until June 30, 2023, in the Stars League, Olunga would be willing to transfer to Corinthians if the salary proposal of 2 million reais is accepted.
