List of Army Barracks in Uganda

Uganda has a number of army barracks that serve as training centers for the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) and provide accommodation for the soldiers.

  1. Kasenyi Military Barracks – Located in Entebbe, Kasenyi is one of the largest military barracks in Uganda. It serves as the headquarters of the UPDF Land Forces and also houses several other units.
  2. Nakasongola Military Barracks – This is the largest army barracks in Uganda, covering an area of over 9000 acres. It is located in the Nakasongola district, approximately 140 km north of Kampala. It serves as the headquarters of the UPDF Armoured Brigade and also houses the School of Armour.
  3. Jinja Military Barracks – Located in Jinja, this barracks serves as the headquarters of the UPDF Engineering Brigade. It also houses the UPDF School of Engineering and Logistics.
  4. Bombo Military Barracks – This is one of the oldest military barracks in Uganda. It is located in Bombo town, approximately 37 km north of Kampala. It serves as the headquarters of the UPDF Land Forces and also houses the UPDF School of Infantry.
  5. Gulu Military Barracks – This barracks is located in Gulu town, approximately 335 km north of Kampala. It serves as the headquarters of the UPDF 4th Division and also houses several other units.
  6. Mbarara Military Barracks – This is the headquarters of the UPDF Armoured Brigade. It is located in Mbarara town, approximately 290 km southwest of Kampala.
  7. Kakiri Military Barracks – This barracks is located in the Wakiso district, approximately 20 km west of Kampala. It serves as the headquarters of the UPDF Air Defence Division and also houses the UPDF School of Air Defence.
  8. Masindi Military Barracks – This barracks is located in Masindi town, approximately 220 km northwest of Kampala. It serves as the headquarters of the UPDF 1st Division and also houses the UPDF School of Military Intelligence and Security.
  9. Kasese Military Barracks – Located in the Kasese district, this barracks serves as the headquarters of the UPDF Mountain Division and also houses several other units.
  10. Moroto Military Barracks – Located in the Moroto district, this barracks serves as the headquarters of the UPDF 3rd Division and also houses the UPDF School of Mountain Warfare.
