Are Kenyans Pastors Not Scared Of Coronavirus? Church Services Were As Usual, Unlike Uganda.

Churches pastor

Yesterday evening I watched President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda declare a mandatory SHUT DOWN and CLOSURE of all CHURCHES, MOSQUES and other places of Worship as a measure to check and Contain any spread of COVID-19 in the country.

Then I remembered here in Kenya, the Government in a pretentious move, because it wouldn’t want to be seen as fighting religion, didn’t make ANY ANNOUNCEMENT regarding the same subject.

Today we have seen large masses of people gathered in various churches across the country IRRESPONSIBLY, CARELESSLY and without ANY CAUTION, concerning the global pandemic of COVID-19 that by yesterday killed up to 793 people in Italy, yesterday alone.

Here is my opinion: this is entirely a failure by the Government. The Government MUST take charge and enforce the precautionary measures against all opposition because this is what is good for the country. It shouldn’t matter whether the move angers People or motivates the rise of anti-religion conspiracy theories from sections of the population. The Government MUST and should do its job of ensuring law and order and providing safety and security to all its citizens.

Otherwise, with this carelessness, ignorance and deliberate, intentional obliviousness Kenya will soon be where Italy is today and worse, in terms of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
