Ulinzi Stars FC chairman Erick Oloo has been promoted to the rank of colonel in the Kenya Defence Forces.
The information which was made available to the public on Monday afternoon at the Ulinzi Star club’s official website read in part:
“Our club chairman will be taking up more responsibilities in the KDF, following his promotion to the rank of Colonel. As he seeks to lead the club to even better heights, we pray that God grants him wisdom in his new stature. Join us in congratulating Col Erick Oloo.”
He takes over from Col Juma Mwinyikai, who took study leave in 2016. The promotion places him at the fifth level of the military ranks with several platoons under him.
Oloo says he’s still committed to serving the club as its chairman and has promised to work towards delivering the KPL in the coming season.
“I remain the chairman of Ulinzi Stars and I commit to keeping working for its success. We want to win the league next year,” said Oloo.
Ulinzi Stars finished the season in fourth place on 31 points, 8 behind Gor Mahia who were declared winners after Football Kenya Federation (FKF) ended all its competitions prematurely following the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus which brought all sports activities to an abrupt halt.
The soldiers have previously won the league four times in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2010.
