The Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) continues to be the main subject of discussion in the country for the last few weeks as Kenyans from all sections of the society continue to deliberate on the contents of the BBI report.
The document is the outcome of the March 2018 political agreement between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM party leader Raila Odinga who had seemingly set out to unite the country after a divisive election.
However, with the Building Bridges Initiative report already launched by President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM party leader Raila Odinga at Bomas in Nairobi some days ago, there emerged a new twist to the BBI process when the Building Bridges Initiative taskforce leadership led by Dennis Waweru and Junet Mohamed postponed the launch of signatures Collection exercise scheduled for yesterday.
To add more twist to the Building Bridges Initiative process is the fact that NTV reports in the last minute of THIS VIDEO that Raila Odinga’s camp may have been dealt a huge blow because president Uhuru Kenyatta’s camp has changed mind on the BBI report.
It is reported that the president’s allies are now calling for consensus on the Building Bridges Initiative before subjecting it to a referendum, a complete departure from an initial stand where they were ready to support the document as it is without amendments.
It is to be remembered that ODM leader Raila Odinga has been all along saying that the Building Bridges Initiative report is not open to any other amendments and those who object to its proposals should make their voice known during a referendum.
