Uhuru Should Go Home and Wait for a Remarkable State Burial – Hon. Boni Khalwale.

Former Kakamega Senator, Boni Khalwale, on Wednesday reiterated his call for President Uhuru Kenyatta to exit the political scene in 2022, after the end of his 10-year leadership term.

Speaking on Milele FM during a breakfast show, the fiery politician advised the head of state to desist falling into the trap of his newly-found friends, under the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), such as Central Organization of Trade Union (COTU) secretary-general Francis Atwoli, who has severally declared that Uhuru would remain in power after 2022.

Khalwale opined that Uhuru should follow in the footsteps of his predecessors, the late Daniel Moi and Mwai Kibaki, who gave up power willingly when their tenures ended, reminding him that a lavish life awaits him after retirement.

”President Uhuru thank you very much. After 2022 utakuwa umetuongoza miaka kumi. Uwe mnyenyekevu, usimsikize mtu anaitwa Atwoli na Kalonzo…funga virago enda nyumbani…. (You will have led us for ten years. Be humble and do not listen to the likes of Atwoli and Kalonzo. Just pack your bags and go),” Khalwale said.

Kibaki anaishi vizuri sana (Kibaki lives lavishly), Uhuru will live even better,” he added.

The former lawmaker went ahead to remind Uhuru that when, God forbid, the time for his death came, he would be accorded an honourable send off, just like the late Moi was, in February.

”Kwa Bahati mbaya…akienda, vile Moi alienda, atapewa mazishi ya heshima kubwa vile Moi alipewa (If by bad luck he happens to pass away, he will be buried honorably like Moi),” he stated.

The Tangatanga die-hard chided Atwoli for declaring Uhuru as a man too young to retire, noting that younger leaders, such as former US president Barrack Obama, happily handed over leadership of their countries when their terms ended.
