With just two years remaining before the 2022 general elections, top presidential candidates led by Deputy President William Ruto have been crisscrossing the country in a bid to secure more regions ahead of the 2022 Coalition.
But even as the campaigns seem to have officially kickstarted, Cherangany MP Joshua Kutuny has come out to weigh in on a possible coalition likely to carry the day in the next general elections.
Speaking on Thursday from his Cherangany constituency, Kutuny, who for a while has been a fierce critic of the DP, termed President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM party leader Raila Odinga’s coalition as a lethal one should the two come together in the 2022 Coalition.
Kutuny also added that the two were more likely to bring in other like minded leaders to form a big coalition which is likely to face Deputy President William Ruto
“The political alliance between President Uhuru Kenyatta, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga and other like minded leaders come 2022 elections is “Lethal” stated Kutuny.
Kutuny’s statement seems to be a quick change of mind after the legislator was recently quoted saying Ruto’s presidency was likely to carry the day in 2022.
While criticizing Kanu party chairman Senator Gideon Moi recently, Kutuny in a move that suggested he was slowly creeping back to Ruto’s camp, said it was wrong for Gideon to target residents from the region who had been appointed to higher government positions by the DP.
His sentiments however, fell flat after he, together with Uasing Gishu county Businessman cum politician Buzeki paid a courtesy visit to ODM party leader Raila Odinga at his Capitool Hill offices.
The three are said to have discussed among other things 2022 political successions, with Kutuny allegedly assuring Raila of his full support in the North Rift region.
The legislator later met with Chama Cha Mashinani party leader, the former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto, who promised to chart the way forward for the Kalenjin community to ensure they are in the next government.
The remarks from Kutuny come after the recently witnessed act by Jubilee Party where they withdrew their contestant for the up-coming Msabweni by-election to pave way for the Orange Democratic Movement.
DP Ruto’s camp has however, expressed intentions to field a different candidate who will square it out with ODM candidate.
