The only thing that is holding me up is the travel ban. I’ll be on my way to South Africa as soon as I can access a plane at the airport.”
Reports from South Africa indicate that the country’s premiership side Orlando Pirates have shortlisted Rwandan international and Tusker FC goalkeeper Emery Mvuyekure for trials ahead of next season.
Speaking to Tony Mballa on Sunday morning, Mvuyekure confirmed that he had made it to the list of the top 3 out of the initial 7 goalkeepers who had been earmarked by the South African giants for possible recruitment.
Covid-19 Holds Him Back Now
Mvuyekure said that he will be heading to South Africa as soon as the government lifts travel restrictions it had imposed to contain the further spread of the deadly Covid-19 pandemic.
“The only thing that is holding me up is the travel ban. I’ll be on my way to South Africa as soon as I can access a plane at the airport,” said Mvuyekure.
Mvuyekure stated that he was now a free agent after his two years contract with The Brewers ran out.
He Made It To The Top 3
Pirates technical bench analysed the videos for the seven players and trimmed the number down to the final three who will be invited to train with the club before they decide on whom sign.
Ricardo Goss and Richard Ofori are the other two goalkeepers in the final list who will hope to outdo Mvuyekure as they aim to land a deal with the Pirates.
