Murang’a Senator and the Senate Majority Whip, Irungu Kang’ata has now surfaced after the man who sent him a threatening message was arrested.
On Friday, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives arrested Michael Chege Bunyi who had to send threatening messages to Kang’ata.
Bunyi was arrested in Ruiru, Kiambu County where he was hiding from the detectives after being called upon to present himself after the threatening messages.
In a message through his twitter account, the Senator thanked the DCI detectives after arresting Bunyi.
“Thank you DCI for your good work. God bless, I am humbled,” wrote Irungu Kang’ata through his twitter account.
In the recent past, Mr. Kang’ata came out to reveal that the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) is unpopular in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s backyard, the Mt. Kenya region.
Kang’ata had written a letter to President Uhuru Kenyatta over the same matter.
“Based on a survey I conducted during the December 2020 holidays, I have concluded BBI is unpopular in Mt Kenya. Out of every 10 persons I surveyed, six oppose it, two support it, and two others are indifferent,” his letter read in part.
He has still maintained his stand in various interviews something that has caused him a lot of rejections and critics from those who support the BBI.
On Tuesday, a secret meeting was held that called on the Senator to recant the letter on BBI fate in the Mt. Kenya region.
However, Kang’ata declined to recant the letter and still maintained his earlier stand.
