Sofapaka took an early lead, just within 32 seconds of kick off, after Elli Asieche looped a long ball into the box, finding Promise Chinonso well placed to connect a fine header into the back of the net, to send the hosts into a much deserved celebration frenzy.

Gor would, however, restore parity fourteen minutes later through their main striker Samuel Onyango, who soared high above his two markers to nod in a Kenneth Muguna superbly delivered cross from the right flank, leaving keeper Aimo Richard flat-footed and helplessly beaten.

Nigerian wonderkid Promise Chinonso bagged a brace in the 55th minute to restore Sofapaka’s well deserved lead when he headed in Elli Asieche’s delivery from a resultant corner kick.

Sofapaka stretched their lead further in the 86th minute when Sebastine Sunday unleashed a rasping shot from outside the box that flung into the top corner of the net past a hapless Gor Mahia custodian David Mapigano to make it three and put the game beyond the reach of the defending champions.

The win places Sofapaka eighth on the log as they now focus on their next match against Balaji EPZ in FKF Cup.
