Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior has warned his Narok counterpart Ledama Ole Kina against declaring war against his Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party, and its leadership led by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Ledama was on Thursday removed from the Senate Public Accounts and Investment Committee(CPAIC), days after he was elected to chair the influential watchdog committee.
The vocal Senator, however, hit back and dismissed a letter from Senate Minority Leader James Orengo giving notice of his discharge and removal from CPAIC to Speaker Ken Lusaka.
“Today I chaired my second meeting as the duly elected Chair of the Senate Public Accounts Investment Committee. The letter by James Orengo has got no basis and must be treated with contempt! Because this committee is very powerful they want a pushover, not Me,” Ledama tweeted.
Reacting to the sentiments, Senator Mutula reminded Ledama that he was still ODM member, and cautioned him against cutting off the hand that feeds him.
“My brotherly advice – don’t tempt fate and check the branch you are sitting on. You may be cutting it unknowingly,” Makueni Senator Mutula told his colleague.
In another tweet, Ledama said he was ready to shoot down the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), which he said was set to be relaunched in a few weeks to come.
BBI is a brainchild of President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila following their March 9, 2018, handshake.
“I understand BBI is coming end of this month right? Leteni! (Bring it on!)” posted the first-time lawmaker.
Ledama was elected to the powerful post after garning 5 votes against Kisii Senator Sam Ongeri who got 4 votes.
His win was celebrated by close allies of Deputy President William Ruto led by Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen and blogger Dennis Itumbi raising eyebrows.
