President Uhuru Kenyatta is set to host a Central Kenya leadership meeting at the Sagana State Lodge this coming weekend. The President had just last week addressed the Kikuyu nation through vernacular stations where he urged the region to support the Building Bridges Initiative.
This is even as a major BBI campaign is being planned for the region.
The president expected to continue his campaign for BBI and the Sagana Meeting is supposed to bring together local leaders with Uhuru. Additionally, the President is expected to explain his political vision for the region.
With political activities in the region reaching fever pitch, the Sagana Meeting is meant to strategize on how to drum up support for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), as the process enters the crucial stage after verification of signatures, paving way for a referendum.
“We have a meeting this weekend in Nairobi to finalize the Sagana Meeting, which will bring together both elected and government officials from the region.
We are also targeting grassroots leaders since it will not be a one-day event,” said a government official involved in the preparations for the Sagana Meeting.
“The kind of momentum we are going to gather after the president’s Sagana Meeting will surprise many. We have been quiet but we are now determined to go full throttle. You just wait and see.”
