Ruto’s New Campaign Strategy Revealed as Allies Weigh in on Uhuru’s Support

Days after coming out to claim he doesn’t fear the ‘Deep State’ nor the System ahead of the 2022 presidential elections, reports have emerged on how the Deputy President William Ruto could be banking in on new campaign strategies to counter his competitors.

According to a report shared by the Daily Nation on Thursday, a section of leaders allied to the DP have come out to clear the air on whether the DP was still relying on President Uhuru Kenyatta’s endorsement in 2022.

Speaking to the paper on Wednesday, Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki revealed that Ruto’s camp was no longer having Uhuru’s support in their campaign plans.

According to him, it was obvious that the candidate which is going to be fronted by the system in 2022, will eventually end up losing the seat, as evident in the past elections.

“The system backed Uhuru Kenyatta against a popular Mwai Kibaki in 2002 and lost. In 2007, it was behind Kibaki, forcing a short-lived narrow win. A coalition government had to be formed…we have realized that the easiest way to loose an election is to be the system candidate” remarked Kindiki.

Kindiki’s remarks were backed up by University of Nairobi Political Analyst Herman Manyora, who opined that “Ruto’s strategy is to sell the ‘hustler’ narrative and play the victim instead”.

Manyora went ahead to add that In dealing with Uhuru, Ruto will have Mt Kenya vote in his basket, since he will use the ‘betrayal card’ to maximize his agenda.

And as one way of ensuring that their candidate beats all the odds in 2022, Ruto’s camp has reportedly embarked on new campaign strategies to win the electorates.

Ruto's New Campaign

Ruto‘s recent move to dare the “system” has been termed as one of his new campaign tactics by his friends.

Having read all the signs that he is more likely going to be considered an outsider in 2022, Ruto is said to have invested his energies on clearing his name from the list of ‘Uhuru’s Principal Assistants’ and instead branded himself as a man who is running against Kenya’s dynasties in 2022.

According to Soy MP Caleb Kositany, Ruto’s new strategy of distancing himself from the ‘Dynasty’ nation and associating himself with the common hustlers was going to help him boost his ambitions, since he will be having the people behind him at the end.

While expressing their ambitions and readiness to welcome ‘A Big Boy’ who is going to join them soon, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen claimed Ruto’s camp had numbers and ‘fate’ on their side come 2022.

“As witnessed in the last general elections, any popular leader who has stood with the people against the system, he/she has won,” stated Murkomen.
