According to Standard Newspaper and the news making headlines in Kenya, DP Ruto has been accompanied by his wife Rachel for an unknown mission in Dubai.
Reports have indicated that the DP is on a private business family trip to the United Arab Emirates(UAE). It was at this time that the trip also came as a coincidence to his wife’s 52nd birthday which happened on Friday.
This happened on Wednesday night after they had a 3-hour meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta. It was after this meeting that the BBI signature collection stage was halted.
Raila on the other hand left the country for a different destination though. His close allies though including Mbadi have confirmed that the former PM has traveled to the Democratic Republic of Congo(DRC). The African Union High Representative for Infrastructure Development traveled to DRC probably on the AU business affairs.
“He is in Lubumbashi, DRC for an infrastructure conference on the Interlink projects. He is attending the event which will culminate in a series of consultations with local and regional players on the running plans on Inga Dam,” confirmed his communication Director Dennis Onyango. Raila himself confirmed on Twitter that about his mission to revive the Inga Hydropower project.
“The Inga Hydropower project remains one of the key infrastructure projects within the entire African Union. I had a discusion on its importance and progress with the Governor of Haut-Katanga, DRC, @JacquesKyabula in Lubumbashi this afternoon,” he tweeted.
There have been claims that both the two leaders have traveled to Israel to have a secret meeting but Mbadi has rubbished the claims stating that it’s not as they claim.
This is according to the Standard on Saturday. The two leaders, therefore, have not met abroad as it has been speculated. Mbadi says that Raila is not in Israel and he is not having any meeting with the Deputy President Dr. William Ruto.
“The former PM is not in Israel. This is not true. He is also not meeting with Ruto. This is just a conspiracy theory that the two could be meeting after the planned signature launch on Thursday was suspended,” he said.
