As the Nairobi Gubernatorial race kicks off with a higher pace, several candidates have already been reported eyeing the vacant position left by the recently impeached Governor Mike Sonko.
However, the political parties are expected to field their candidates for the Nairobi top seat as by-elections that will be taking place next year. Despite higher expectations for deputy president William Ruto’s supporter for him to field a candidate for the Gubernatorial race, it has been reported why he may not field.
According to the Star reports, the second in command has a candidate he supported for the just concluded Msambweni by-elections but failed to go to campaign for him because president Uhuru met the ODM candidate, a move that was said the went to endorse him.
The same is expected to repeat in Nairobi. Being a larger place and an area where president Uhuru Kenyatta has a personal interest, there is a higher possibility he will field a candidate for Jubilee to vie for the seat.
This will however block the second in command from endorsing a candidate of his own, to avoid locking horns with his boss President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Do you think Dp Ruto should endorse his own candidate even if President Uhuru does the same? Drop your comments below.
