Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga who is also the handshake partner of President Uhuru Kenyatta has broken silence after news had alleged that he was sidelined on the changes made to the Building Bridges Initiative report.
The former Prime Minister has noted that he was part of the changes that were made to the final report before the signature collection exercise was officially launched by both him and president Uhuru Kenyatta at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre.
Raila has since said that he fully supports the final report which he appended his signature on though some of the proposals that he had given were not put into consideration in the final report.
“ODM leader Raila Odinga says he fully supports the BBI Bill as he was party to the changes made even though some of his proposals didn’t carry the day”@Raila Odinga.
Earlier on Wednesday, several politicians had alleged that Raila Odinga was not in the know-how since he did not know that some of the proposals given by other quotas had already been given amendment considerations.
In his speech at the launch of the collection of signatures in support of the bill, Mr. Odinga said things that were different from what was in the bill presented to Kenyans.
On the issue of the Prime Minister’s position, Mr. Odinga said there was no way the position would increase the President’s powers. According to him, the President will not have the power to suspend the Prime Minister but the responsibility will be in the hands of the legislators.
