Police have launched a manhunt for their colleague who went into hiding after she shot her husband at Dago Area in Nyalenda, Kisumu.
The Administration Police constable based at Kisumu East Sub County is said to have accused her husband of failing to receive her telephone calls. She also got angry with him for giving their house help Sh50 for lunch without first consulting her.
According to the police report, APC Maureen came back to their rented house from sentry duty at Kasagam on Sunday night at about 8 pm, armed with an AK-47, and turned the gun on her husband who is a clinical officer at Milimani Hospital in Kisumu, while he was watching television.
“She stood at the door while armed with an AK-47 rifle. She told him she is going to kill him and herself then cocked the gun, shot at him twice injuring him on the right side of the head just above the ear,” said the report.
Blasts Attracted Neighbors
The blasts attracted alarmed neighbors who rushed to the scene only for them to turn around and scamper for safety when she fired in their direction.
“She then disappeared to an unknown place after returning the firearm to her fellow colleague APC Nancy at the office,” said the police.
The husband has since been treated and discharged from Kisumu County Hospital where he was rushed after the incident.
The couple has been together for three years and has a boy child.
The scene was visited by OCS Kasagam, DCIO Kisumu East, and processed by crime scene staff.
