A popular Kameme FM has poked holes into reports that Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga is sick.
The media reports the former Prime Minister is being admitted at the Nairobi Hospital where doctors are running a series of tweets on him.
His spokesperson Dennis Onyango said Raila was advised by doctors to take a rest after he complained of fatigue having completed a countrywide tour in which he visited counties of Turkana, Narok, Busia, and Coast region in the last few days.
“The doctors have advised that he takes complete rest as they continue to run tests,” Onyango said.
But according to Kameme FM Arahuka show host Gatonye wa Mbugua, Raila was feigning sickness to read mood of the country after it was reported he was having differences with his handshake partner President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“It is all minyonyo (pretence). Raila is under pressure from his ODM brigade not to meet Uhuru to iron their differences about the handshake and the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI),” he said.
“He just want to buy time and put the country into uncertainty so the President can finally bow on his fresh demands on BBI,” Gatonye said, adding that was his personal opinion and not that of Kameme FM.
There are claims Raila was put under isolation after he visited Tanzania President John Pombe Magufuli who is being admitted at Nairobi Hospital over an alleged Covid-19 infection.
“Important to note that Raila Odinga was allowed to visit Pombe Magufuli, who is battling with Covid-19 at Nairobi Hospital. Baba Raila is also fatigued and will be in isolation as he also gets bed rest. Raila usually makes his health public. Other leaders normally hide,” tweeted blogger Abuga Makori Junior.
According to Raila’s elder brother Oburu Odinga, the ODM boss was not showing any signs of serious sickness, adding he has been tested for Covid-19 but the results were yet to be released.
Kenyans have floored the social media with messages of quick recovery to the 76-years-old veteran politician.
They include Homa Bay Town MP Peter Opondo Kaluma, former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi among others.
“H. E. Right Honourable Raila Amolo Odinga, PM, EGH is on bed rest due to fatigue. We put Baba in prayers for quickest recovery,” Kaluma tweeted.
