Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula has shifted the blame of Chesegon landslide calamity to Deputy President William Ruto adding that the DP will never be the president of Kenya.
According to a Facebook post on the official page of 47 Counties politics, Wetangula blamed Ruto for the failure of Arror, Kimwarer dam adding that had the dam been constructed Elgeyo Marakwet and West Pokot counties would not be experiencing mudslides and flooding.
“If the twin dams of Arror and Kimwarer were constructed as had been envisaged, Marakwet and Pokot would not be experiencing flooding and mudslides leading to loss of life and property,
But you know, some of you have decided that liwalo liwe, you are still going to vote for Ruto and his band of thieves, the criminals who stole a whole Sh 21billion which was for constructing the two dams are now blaming the President & Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga,” Wetangula said.
“In fact, one of those looters(William Ruto) is shedding crocodile tears about this natural calamity on Twitter,” he added.
Earlier today, Elgeyo Marakwet County Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, told residents of Chesegon that he had talked with President Uhuru Kenyatta who was going to personally monitor the rescue efforts.
Murkomen took to his official Facebook page to tell the residents that he had talked with President Uhuru Kenyatta who has in turn organized for the evacuation of all survivors of the unfortunate landslide.
“Help is on the way. We are working with the government to ensure that the people are assisted,” Murkomen posted on his Facebook page.
On Saturday afternoon following a heavy downpour on Friday night, a landslide occurred at Chesegon center that borders East Elgeyo Marakwet and West Pokot counties.
After the incident, while on a phone interview with Citizen TV’s Victoria Lubadiri, senator Murkomen revealed that ten years ago in the same area, more than 40 lives were lost to the same calamity.
