Moses Wetangula is a Kenyan politician. He was elected to the Senate of Kenya in 2013, representing Bungoma County, and became Minority Leader in the Senate.
Wetangula’s full name is Moses Masika Wetangula. He was born on 13 September 1956 in Nalondo Division, Bungoma County.

Moses’s family is a political family! One of his brothers Tim Wanyonyi is the Wetlands Member of the National Assembly.
The other brother Fred Wetangula is a renowned Nairobi Businessman. His wealth is estimated at Ksh 2.4 billion! He also has a younger sister Emmeryncian Naswa.

Moses has several wives. The first one is Phyllis, who no longer stays with him. The second one was a Bukusu lady, who had a child but left her forcing her to seek court orders to compel him into supporting her and the two children.
The third one is Anne Wacheke Ngugi, who not long ago was accused of battling Moses. His children, also, to the other two children include Fidel, Tamara, and Sheila Wetangula.
He has been into various secondary schools He first went to Nalondo primary school,then to Busakala secondary school,Teremi secondary school and finally Friends Kamusinga where he performed well.
Wetangula proceeded to the university of Nairobi where he studied Law.
His political career began in the year 1992 when he was nominated as KANU Member of Parliament. However, before being appointed, he served as a public officer being the chairman Electricity Regulatory Board and as a magistrate.
He is currently one of the NASA Co-principal, who is pushing forward for the 30th Jan 2018 swearing in of their leader Raila Odinga as the People’s President.
Even though Moses is seen as a successful politician in Kenya, he has been faced with numerous challenges, one of them being the alleged involvement in the Kenyan Tokyo Embassy Scandal. ( We will talk about this in details here)
This allegation made him step aside to give way for proper investigation. He, however, was found not guilty, a thing that boosted his popularity.

Senator Wetangula is the current FORD-Kenya Party Leader and CORD Co-principal. FORD Kenya is a constituent Party of the CORD Coalition.

Senate Minority Leader
After winning election to the Senate, Wetangula was selected to serve as Minority Leader of the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy. The Bungoma High Court nullified his election on 30 September 2013 and the Speaker of the Senate declared the seat vacant on 16 October 2013.
In a by-election held on 19 December 2013, Ford Kenya candidate Moses Wetangula recaptured his Bungoma senatorial seat with a landslide win after garnering 149,458 votes against his main contender Musikari Kombo, who got 81,016 votes.
David Makali secured 2,155 votes while Wakoli garnered 1,899 votes from a total of 942 polling stations, with a 57 percent voter turnout.
Tokyo Embassy Scandal
Wetangula was accused of using Ksh. 1.6 billion to purchase a low-value land in Tokyo Japan for the Kenyan Embassy instead of accepting a free property from the Government of Japan.The Ksh. 1.6 billion had been obtained after the sale of Kenyan Property in Nigeria.
Wetangula was told to step aside pending investigations to complete. George Saitoti served as acting foreign minister during Wetangula’s absence. He was absolved of the allegations and returned to the ministry in August 2011.
In 2012 he was moved to the Ministry of Trade after returning from Mali where he had been holed up in a hotel for several days after a Coup d’etat. He afterward left the position to successfully contest for the position of Senator for Bungoma County.
