Today mourners in Malulu, Sabatia constituency we’re treated to a debacle of political muscle-flexing at the funeral service of Musalia Mudavadi’s mother. Mama Musalia Mudavadi died last year on 28th December after battling a long illness.
The funeral service saw the president and former prime minister Raila Odinga attend the event. They paid their last respect to the deceased and consoled the family.
Politics took the center stage at the event where several leaders showed concerns on matters concerning BBI. The BBI talks saw the president and his co-handshake partner get praises for bringing the document to Kenyans.
But senior counsel Martha Karua stunned mourners and residents of Sabatia after her outburst on matters BBI. She wasn’t cowed by the presence of the president compared to other leaders. She told it like it is.
She first asked the president to know why some people we’re rejecting the document. Martha Karua said that it was her democratic right to either reject or accept the document.
Furthermore, she said that allowing everyone to bring up his or her point to the table would ease the burden to Kenyans.
Martha Karua who once challenged President Uhuru Kenyatta in the 2013 presidential race, said that Kenya needed a constitutional change that wouldn’t need to be changed after every ten years. Her stand made the crowd cheer her as they clapped for her courageous stand.
