Embattled Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru on Thursday reportedly met ODM leader Raila Odinga at an exclusive Karen club, reports the Sunday Nation.
According to the local daily, the meeting was held between 7 PM and 9 PM with the subject of discussion being saving the beleaguered Kirinyaga Governor from impeachment.
It has now emerged that Governor Waiguru was accompanied by a host of leaders in meeting the ODM leader who also had a company of close allies.
The tabloid reported that Kiambu Governor James Nyoro and his Nyeri counterpart Mutahi Kahiga were part of the meeting.
“The meeting, said our source, who took part in its organization, ended shortly after 9 PM and also featured a former MCA in Nairobi County, only identified as Kamau.
“Ms Waiguru walked in a few minutes to 7 pm accompanied by two aides, then Kiambu governor James Nyoro and his Nyeri counterpart Mutahi Kahiga joined her before Mr Odinga and a few of his trusted MPs arrived,” reported the Daily Nation.
Raila on his part was also accompanied by his close confidants who happen to be Members of Parliament. The paper, however, did not identify them.
However, Nyeri Governor denied being part of the meeting while his Kiambu counterpart directed the tabloid to the former premier.
According to the Newspaper, Waiguru had met Raila to lobby him for support in shutting down the impeachment through ODM Senators.
It was reported that Governor Waiguru informed the former Prime Minister that things are promising from the Kieleweke side of the Jubilee party and that his hand will seal the deal and save her the fall.
The revelations comes just less than 48 hours before the senate decides which way the impeachment motion will go; whether plenary or committee way.
The alleged meeting was held on the same day Justice Weldon Korir approved the impeachment after he ruled that the MCAs had proved that they had not violated any court order during the impeachment.
