Barely a day after the ouster of Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and his Nakuru counterpart Susan Kihika in the Senate leadership, Tiaty MP William Kamket has hinted that the war to weed out the allies of the Deputy President William Ruto from influential government positions has just started.
Murkomen’s fate as Majority leader was sealed during State House meeting chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta, with his position taken over by West Pokot Senator Samuel Poghisio.
On her part, Kihika was replaced by Murang’a Senator Irungu Kangata.
According to Kamket, the process to weed out the allies of Deputy President William Ruto from influential government positions has just but begun.
While speaking during an interview with KTN News, the vocal KANU MP confirmed that the axe will soon fall on the DP’s allies in the National Assembly.
” They say mwenzako akinyolewa, chako kitie maji. La sivyo, utanyolewa bila maji. We are now going to our house, the National Assembly,” he said.
If Kamket’s statement is anything to go by, then key Ruto allies holding influential positions in the National Assembly should brace themselves for tough days ahead.
Among those who are reportedly targeted for ouster include Budget Appropriations Committee Chairman Kimani Ichung’wa and National Assembly Majority Whip Benjamin Washiali.
The move will surely leave the DP licking his wounds, leaving his State House ambitions hanging on balance.
