Fresh details have alleged that the Jubilee party has a preferred candidate in the Kahawa Wendani ward Jubilee party primaries an issue that has angered most of the contenders.
The party primaries were expected to take place on Tuesday 6th of October 2020 but as disclosed by the People Daily, by 10 a.m. in the morning, nomination papers had not yet arrived at the ward level.
“Unconfirmed reports betokened that the party had given the ticket to one of the aspirants through a vetting process. Jubilee Vice-chairman David Murathe could not be reached for comment as calls to his mobile phone went unanswered.” People Daily reports.
This has left most of the aspirants really angry at the party noting that it would be unfair not to subject the people of the area to a democratic process as the Jubilee party had maintained earlier on.
This comes despite Kiambu County governor James Nyoro’s revelation that the county government had no preferred Kahawa Wendani candidate when he met all the aspirants at one of the local churches.
“As a county government, we have no preferred Kahawa Wendani candidate. We shall let the people choose a candidate of their choice without undue influence,” said Nyoro who was accompanied by his Deputy Dr. Joyce Ngugi, former Ruiru Member of Parliament Esther Gathogo, and a number of MCAs.
The seat which was left vacant after the death of the former MCA has attracted over 10 aspirants most of them contesting through the ruling party Jubilee whereas others are from other parties and also independent candidates.
