The Kenya national union of teachers has over the years been at the forefront of the fight for teachers. Its objectives were however altered by the ailing relationship with the teacher employer TSC, which has since financially crippled the operations of the once giant teachers union.
Today the union has suffered another blow after the national treasurer John Matiang’i who Is the brother to the interior docket boss Dr. Fred Matiangi announced his early retirement from the union.
According to Matiangi, he has taken the bold move in order to concentrate on his family’s well being and personal development.
” Today with my family’s support, I would like to announce my voluntary rejtirement as KNUT treasurer and pause this phase of my professional life ” Said Matiangi.
Before his post, Matiangi worked as Borabu branch executive secretary, a position he took over in 2008. He has been the national treasurer for KNUT since 2015,a post he took from Mr Albanus Muthisia
