Harambee Starlets were thumped 5-0 by an experienced Chile side in the ongoing Turkish Women Cup at Starlight Sports Complex in Instanbul.

The South Americans took the fight to Kenya right from the first whistle and found the back of the net just within eight kick-offs following a rasping shot that swished into the top left corner, leaving the Kenyan custodian well beaten.

Chile, who displayed fluid passes and exceptional ability both on and off the ball, extended their lead in the 21st minute after the ball was lobbed over the Kenyan defense to find the striker who made no mistake at all.

Then came the second half, and the Chileans converted two penalties in quick succession as the local girls fizzled out of the game with a goalkeeping howler gifting them their fifth goal to put the game agonizingly beyond reach.

in the final stages of the match gifted the Chileans the fifth goal.

Starlets had come to this match a confident side after registering a convincing 2-0 win over Northern Ireland 2-0 in their opening match on Wednesday evening.

Starlets, who are using the tournament to sharpen up ahead of the crunch African Women’s Cup of Nations qualifiers against East African neighbors Tanzania in April, will next face football underdogs Uzbekistan on Tuesday.
