Anti-graft agency, EACC, has began probe into impeached Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru and some of her staff.
EACC Central Region Head, Charles Rasugu, said they are investigating conflict of interest and corruption allegations lodged against the embattled county chief.
Waiguru according to EACC awarded a Ksh 50 million tender to Velocity Partners Limited, a company said to be linked to her relatives.
EACC further adds that Waiguru benefited from Ksh 10.6 million irregularly paid to her as a travel allowance.
In total, EACC estimates over Ksh 300 million to have been stolen from the county coffers by the county boss. Already, Kirinyaga County Chief of Staff Sellah Bogonko and Chief Finance Officer Patrick Mugo are among the staffers interrogated by EACC.
The two are said to have adversely implicated the governor in exchange for being the prosecution witness. EACC said Waiguru will be interrogated at a later date.
