“We will make sure that the stadium is completed on time so that athletes from the region may use it during their training sessions,” CS Sports added.
Uasin Gishu deputy governor Daniel Chemno expressed the need for construction works to be hastened so that the stadium is ready in time for athletes to use in preparations for the Tokyo Olympics which have been pushed to 2021 as a result of Coronavirus pandemic.
“If we don’t complete this stadium, our athletes might not perform well in the Olympics because as at now they don’t have a place to train,” noted Chemno.
Chemno also asked the Ministry of Sports to consider hosting trials for Tokyo Olympics in Eldoret. “We have the fans here and half of them are former athletes, you can’t get that anywhere else in the country.”
