It is a new relief for Ngong Forest Lang’ata residents as they received orders which disabled the efforts of Environment Cs Keriako Tobiko of evicting them from the alleged grabbed Ngong forest land.

The residents claI med that they legally and lawfully obtained the land thus terming the acts of the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) and the CS as illegal. This was through a petition that was certified by Justice Benard Eboso of the land court.

One of the residents, Mr. Kagwanja Thuo stated in court documents that the CS allegations of him illegally obtaining the titles were fraudulent and baseless. Mr. Thuo said that he bought the land from Bahati Mp Kimani ngunjiri in 2006.

Another resident named as Lang’ata Gardens Ltd, claimed that she obtained the land legally and has all the documents to support that. The resident has erected a storey building worth sh.240 million.

The hearing was extended to July 28 after Justice Eboso postponed the CS and KFS orders of evicting the residents and demolishing the houses. The CS had stated last month that the government will reclaim Ngong forest land where currently more than 800 homes are erected.
