Amason Kingi Move To Create A Coastal Party Hits A Snag As His Allies Prefer To Join Ruto’s UDA

The governor of Kilifi Amason Kingi has failed in his bid to create a new coastal party that was to represent the interests of Coastal people as coastal people prefers to join the UDA Party

Kingi and Joho had announced that they had ditched the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) for what they termed as discrimination of the coastal people. Joho is not a straightforward person because, despite the announcement, he claimed that he would be vying for the presidency in 2022 on an ODM ticket.

Kilifi North MP Owen Baya, Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa, Magarini MP Michael Kingi, among 10 MPs from the Coast region claimed to have left the ODM party over ‘betrayal’ in the controversial CRA Bill that was seen to be marginalizing coastal counties.

Ruto's UDA

Owen Baya who was supposed to be part of those spearheading the coastal outfit has already joined United Democratic Alliance (UDA) as a secretary-general. UDA is a party affiliated with the deputy president William Ruto.

Amason Kingi conveyed a meeting at a hotel in Nyali to convince the coastal leadership to form a party but unfortunately he could not even manage 20 leaders in the so called meeting because all the people he expected were inclined towards Ruto .

The coastal region has been voting for Raila Odinga for many years but the region has decided to stay back ever since Raila joined the government through the handshake.
