Residents of Cheptol Village in Mugen Location, Nandi County are still shocked over the incident where a young class five teenagers stabbed his fellow to death.
The incident took place in the evening of Wednesday.According to the deceased neighbour who sought anonymity ,a conflict ensued when the deceased accused the killer boy of stealing his mother’s chips.
His mother is a business lady who sells chips at the Cheptol shopping center. The conflicts led to a fight that saw the suspected boy rush to his home to bring a knife. He stabbed the deceased several times rendering him lifeless on the spot.
The incident was confirmed by the area chief who warned the area youths to keep off from drug abuse. Most residents claim that the young boy was under drugs thus he could not control his anger.
He has called upon the area residents to expose drug traffickers in the region for legal action to be taken against them. He also called upon parents to take care after their children and mold them morally especially during this time when schools are closed.
The suspect has since vanished and is still being hunted by the Security Officers from Koitabut police post. The deceased boy was a form one student at Mugen Secondary School while the Suspected killer is a class five pupil at Kipkongen Primary School.
The body of the deceased has been taken to Mbale mortuary. The police officers have launched an investigation over the incident. The deceased parents are calling upon the government to ensure justice is served. According to the Luhya culture, the boy will have to be buried at night, unlike other normal burials.
Many social crimes are currently being experienced, most students and pupils falling victims of these vices. Since 16th March when schools were closed, most students have been idle, many of them indulging themselves in drug abuse. Action must be taken by the relevant authorities to stop these vices for the safety of our young generation.
