An Administration Police officer assigned to man the gate of Mama Lucy Hospital in Nairobi on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 executed a boda boda rider in cold blood after a bitter confrontation.
Daniel Mburu, 24, had reportedly rushed a child who was found drowning in a pool of water in Korogocho to the facility for treatment when a verbal exchange ensued between him and the officer after he allegedly parked his motorcycle at the wrong spot.
The argument got out of control to a point the enraged officer drew out his weapon in a huff and fired at the boda boda operator at close range.
The officer fled the scene immediately thereafter to evade the wrath of eyewitnesses who had begun charging towards him, baying for his blood.
Police experienced a hard time controlling the charged crowds and had to lob teargas canisters in the air to disperse a rowdy mob that had lit bonfires along Kangundo road to vent out their displeasure over the incident.
