Anne Kiguta’s Tears President Uhuru into Pieces On Live TV

While delivering a speech at the Atlantic Council think tank on Wednesday, February 5, Uhuru expressed his annoyance at an apparent race to court Africa by wealthy nations

“Western countries, and their counterparts in Asia and the Middle East, are returned to competition over Africa, in some cases weaponizing divisions, pursuing proxy actions and behaving like Africa is for the taking. Well, I want to tell you it is not,” stated Uhuru.

Kiguta, however, pointed out that the president’s declaration was impossible to achieve.

“Uhuru Kenyatta was in Washington DC issuing a clear warning to the West, Asia, and the Middle East who have returned to competition over Africa, making it known that Africa is not for the taking.

“President Kenyatta called on the West to stop picking fights with other countries and making African states choose between them. Kenyatta was asked if Kenya can have two best friends and his answer was an emphatic ‘yes’,” noted the anchor.

“Ideally, as there is much truth regarding what Uhuru said, the reality is that it is not so possible in practice. The lines have already been drawn between East and West,” she added.

She went ahead to add that Kenya, unlike most African countries, would be compelled to make the choice sooner than later.

In his speech, Uhuru argued that both the West and East had viable propositions for Africa and the continent would consider them both.

“We don’t want to be forced to choose. We want to work with everybody, and we believe that there is [an] opportunity for everybody.

“There are those areas indeed where America stands out and has much, much better strengths in certain fields. On the other hand, you have the Chinese who build hospitals in seven days,” stated Uhuru.

Kenya’s debt to China was standing at Ksh534.1 billion as of March 2018 with the bulk being pumped into ambitious infrastructure projects.
