Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has lectured Raila Odinga for saying starting a Coastal political party will threaten the unity of the country. Mr. Kingi has told Raila to stop doublespeak and double standards.
“When ANC and FORD Kenya come together to strengthen their backyard it’s good, when NARC and Wiper come together to strengthen their backyard is also good but when KADU Asili and other Coastal parties come together to consolidate our base we are now threatening the unity of the country. That’s double speak and double standards.” A furious Kingi told Raila.
Raila on Wednesday had said many political parties will threaten the unity of the nation. The ODM leader advised the Coastal people against forming their own party.
Kingi went ahead to tell Raila Odinga that all parties registered in Kenya are national political parties but have their strongholds in different regions.
“Wiper is a national party but it has his stronghold in Ukambani, ANC is a national party but its stronghold is in Western, even KADU asili is a national party but its stronghold is here at the Coast,” Amason Kingi said.
According to sources, Governor Kingi is in talks with other Coastal leaders to market KADU asili on the coast and make it a regional party to help them get to the negotiating table.
